DAVIE POLICE OFFICER STACI CHASTAIN RECEIVES THE FLORIDA POLICE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION

LEE MCGEHEE POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR AWARD

DAVIE. Fla. - In recognition of her outstanding commitment to the community, Town of Davie Police Officer Staci Chastain is the recipient of the 2022 Lee McGehee Police Officer of the Year Award from the Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA). She will formally receive the award during the FPCA Annual Summer Conference on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

FPCA is the third largest state police chiefs association in the United States. To be considered for this award, individuals must showcase exceptional achievement in any police endeavor, including extraordinary valor, crime prevention, investigative work, community policing, traffic safety, drug control and prevention, juvenile programs and training programs.

Each year, the program recognizes three officers from varying agency sizes: small (1 – 30 sworn officers), medium (31 – 75 sworn officers) and large (more than 75 sworn officers). Davie was recognized in the latter division, having approximately 200 full-time sworn police officers.

Some of her community contributions include helping individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic, her involvement in the Broward County Multi-Agency Homeless Taskforce (MAHT), serving as a member of the Broward County LGBTQ+ Coalition and her collaboration with businesses throughout the community for the annual Davie Police Department’s "Shop with a Cop" event.

Officer Chastain also assisted in organizing security for COVID-19 testing sites, town-sponsored back-to-school backpack drives, National Night Out happenings, "Faith & Blue" events and in association with several faith-based organizations, planned over two dozen food drives.

"Officer Chastain embodies what it means to protect and serve our community," said Police Chief Stephen Kinsey. "Her ability to cultivate lasting relationships and her determination to aid others accurately represents an exceptional law enforcement officer. We are honored to have her on our team."
