CITY OF SUNRISE UTILITIES DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM SMOKE TESTING IN DAVIE
Courtesy of the City of Sunrise Utilities Department
DAVIE, Fla. - The City of Sunrise Utilities Department will perform a standard sewer smoke testing of its sewer gravity system located in the Town of Davie at lift station basin areas south of I-595 (see attached map). The testing will occur from Feb. 7 through Feb. 18, 2022.
Project Information:
Testing will be conducted by Maxim Technologies, Inc. and includes the inspection and assessment of mainlines and laterals for possible sources of infiltration and inflow into the public sanitary sewer system.
The smoke used is manufactured for sanitary sewer system smoke testing.
- It is non-toxic, odorless, creates no fire hazard and should not enter homes or businesses unless you have defective plumbing or dried-up sink traps or floor drains.
- It leaves no residuals or stains and does not affect plants and animals. Direct contact with the smoke may cause minor respiratory irritation in some people.
This smoke will be “blown” into specific segments of the gravity sewer line through existing maintenance holes (maintenance hole to maintenance hole) and allowed to dissipate. The smoke then dissipates through pipe cracks, open pipe joints, open cleanouts, cross-connections between the sewer and stormwater systems and open systems within structures that connect via laterals to the City’s gravity system.
For more information regarding this project, individuals may contact the City of Sunrise Utilities Department at 1-888-645-9570, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
