Precautionary Boil Water Notice For All Davie Utility Customers

Para Español:

Hurricane Irma Advisory #16

The Town of Davie is committed to providing safe, clean water to its residents. Florida Administrative Code mandates the issuance of a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory under certain operating conditions.

Based on the requirements of Florida Administrative Code, we are issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for the Davie Water Utility Service Areas which resulted from interruptions caused by Hurricane Irma. If you receive a water bill from the Town of Davie, this notice affects you. Please see attached map.

Therefore, as a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled. A ROLLING BOIL OF ONE MINUTE IS SUFFICIENT. If unable to boil your water, tap water can be disinfected by adding 8 drops of unscented household bleach (4 – 6 % active ingredients) to each gallon of water, then mixing the water and allowing it to stand for a minimum period of 30 minutes.  Note: Cloudy water requires 16 drops of bleach and a 30 minute contact time.

You may use the water for bathing, laundry, and irrigation. All fixtures should be run for several minutes to clear the lines in your home.

Disinfectant residual levels have been maintained at the required levels to control microbial contaminants, crews have begun strict monitoring for chlorine residuals and bacteriological sampling at more than twenty representative points within the service area to ensure that our water continues to meet or exceed all applicable standards. This testing will take about 24-36 hours to complete.

THIS PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL THE BACTERIOLOGICAL SURVEY SHOWS THAT THE WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK. We will communicate with you again to advise of the cancellation (rescission) of the advisory.

For more information, please contact Utilities Department at (954) 327-3742 during normal business hours or 954-327-3765 after hours.
