Town Of Davie Purchasing Division Receives Two Awards During National Procurement Month

DAVIE, Fla. – The Town of Davie is pleased to announce that its Purchasing Division has been awarded the 2021 Tyler Public Sector Excellence Award for New World and the 2020 Southeast Florida Chapter of National Institute for Government Procurement (NIGP) Board of Directors Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Chapter and Profession

These awards recognize procurement agencies that demonstrate excellence in productivity, provide invaluable services, and enable successful accomplishments throughout the organization. Procurement is invaluable to the efficiency and effectiveness of any government and business organization by providing the organization to internally obtain goods and services. 

 “It is an honor to work with such an amazing group of individuals to achieve the Town’s procurement goals, foster meaningful relationships with vendors, and educate all our employees on potential saving opportunities,” said William Ackerman, Budget and Finance Director. 

 The awards coincide with National Procurement Month which is celebrated throughout the month of March. In recognition of this achievement, Mayor Judy Paul and Town Councilmembers presented the Purchasing Division with a proclamation at a recent Town Council Meeting.

 About the Town of Davie Purchasing Division 

The Town of Davie Purchasing Division combines technology and best practices to manage the purchasing process, develop meaningful relationships, and support the Town's goals and objectives. 

This division conducts cost-effective purchases of goods and services, performs market research analyses, develops procurement strategies, and manages the purchase process. 

 Initiatives that the Purchasing Division conduct include:

  • Weekly procurement newsletter
  • Ethical and Public Corruption education seminars for Town employees
  • Quarterly vendor education seminars
  • Monthly meetings 
  • Host of the US Communities Vendor Summits twice in a row
