Mandatory Curfew Issued For Broward County Residents As of 4:00 p.m. today, Saturday, September 9, 2017

Hurricane Irma Advisory #14

South Florida is still under a Hurricane Warning. Broward County has issued a mandatory curfew today, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., until further notice for all residents. The public should stay off the roads and indoors.

Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida as an extremely dangerous major hurricane with life-threatening wind impacts across the state. Irma is expected to produce very heavy rain and inland flooding.

Shelter Information:

All Broward County shelters are at full capacity EXCEPT for:

  • Lakeside Elementary, 900 N.W. 136th Avenue, Pembroke Pines FL 33028.
  • Coconut Palm Elementary School, 13601 Monarch Lakes Boulevard., Miramar, FL 33027.

Town of Davie Closures/Cancellations below:

  • All Town of Davie governmental offices are closed until further notice.
  • All Town of Davie organized sports activities are cancelled until further notice.
  • All Town of Davie parks are closed until further notice.
  • The Town of Davie Green and Blue Bus Routes have ceased operations until further notice.
  • All recycling and trash service has been cancelled for Saturday, September 9, and Monday, September 11.

Broward County Closures:

  • All County parks and facilities including campgrounds are closed.
  • All Broward County public schools are closed.
  • All Broward County libraries are closed.
  • Broward County Landfill is closed until further notice.

FLL Airport/Broward County Transit:

  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is closed.
  • Broward County Transit is closed.
  • Tri-Rail service suspended until further notice.
  • The County’s three drawbridges over the New River, S.E. 3rd, S.W. 4th/7th and Andrews Avenue is closed.

Broward County Trash Services:

All garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk collection for Broward County Waste Management residential and commercial customers are suspended until further notice.


FPL:

  • FPL anticipates that when the power goes out, it will impact approximately 4.1 million customers, but plans are underway to restore power as soon as possible. 13,500 workers are ready to go, but debris, limbs and damaged trees will create impediments for restoration vehicles to get out. Debris must be cleared first.
  • 20 staging sites are ready throughout the service areas.
  • To report downed powerlines and outages, please call 1-800-4OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243).
