TOWN OF DAVIE DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY CLOSURES

Virtual Ceremony, Park Information and Solid Waste Services

 

DAVIE, Fla. – In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Town of Davie government offices will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2021. Municipal offices will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. 

 

Virtual Commemoration Ceremony

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the virtual celebration will kick-off at 10 a.m., featuring video messages from Mayor Judy Paul, Town Council, and guest speaker Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz, excerpts from Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, poetry contest winners, and guest musical performances on the Town of Davie’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Art’s Facebook page (@DavieParksRec). 


Park Information 

  • All Town parks, playgrounds, and restrooms will be open from 9 a.m. to sunset. 
  • Betty Booth Roberts Park is closed through Spring 2021 for park upgrades and enhancements. 
  • The Shenandoah Park playground is also closed for repairs. 
  • The Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center will be open from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Please note that reservation is required for the Davie Aquatics Center. To make reservations, please call 954-327-3926. 
  • The Pine Island Multipurpose Center will be closed. 

Visitors should be prepared to comply with all Center for Disease Control and Prevention and social distancing measures. Per Broward County COVID-19 Comprehensive Emergency Order (CEO), visitors are required to wear face coverings, maintain at least six-feet distance from individuals outside of their party, can participate in limited active and passive uses by individuals and families, cannot gather in groups larger than ten.

Solid Waste Services 

Trash, recycling, and bulk trash collection services will operate on normal schedule. If you have any questions about your service, please contact Waste Management at 954-974-7500 or www.wm.com.
