DAVIE, Fla. - As part of the CARES Act sub-award agreement, the Town of Davie is participating in the Broward County CARES Act grant program established to assist small businesses and non-profit organizations throughout the County. This program was created to help mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.
The application portal will open on Monday, November 9 through Monday, November 16, 2020. Applicants will be able to submit applications Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In the interim, businesses are encouraged to visit the website broward.org/cares to learn more about the Broward County CARES Small Business Grant and the Non-Profit Grant program including eligibility, the application process, technical assistance, and much more. The program criteria are available for review at https://www.broward.org/cares/Pages/SmallBusinessAssistance.aspx#GrantAwards
A total of $35 million from the County’s federal CARES Act funds are allocated to support this grant program; $25 million for small businesses and $10 million for non-profits. These funds can be used to reimburse the costs of business interruption related expenditures caused by COVID-19’s required closures and/or operating restrictions. Funds are not a loan and do not have to be paid back. Please note that the Town’s allocation of approximately $1 million of CARES Act small business assistance funding will be administered through this program and allocated to Davie businesses only.
The program will award grants in the amounts of $5,000, $10,000, and $15,000. The grants can only be used for costs incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are designed to aid small businesses with 20 employees or less and non-profits with 25 employees or less.
Additionally, Broward County will be offering free technical assistance to applicants, if needed. Technical assistance appointments can be scheduled beginning Friday, October 30 at noon.
Appointments can be scheduled through Calendly, which can be found on the grant's website under technical assistance.
Assistance provided by Broward County will include:
- Understanding the application process
- Understanding pre/post-grant terms and requirements
