COVID-19 UPDATE 51:

TOWN OF DAVIE OPENS FREE WALKUP COVID-19 TESTING SITE FOR MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

En Español

Davie, Fla., - The Town of Davie, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health (DOH), is opening a free walkup COVID-19 testing site to all residents and members of the public whether symptomatic or asymptomatic. No appointments needed.

The test site will be located at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, 4201 SW 65th Way, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The facility will begin operations on Tuesday, July 14 through Saturday, July 18, 2020, and Tuesday, July 21 through Saturday, July 25, 2020. Parking is available in the adjacent properties (see map). The DOH will have the ability to conduct approximately 250 tests per day on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Testing is available to the public regardless of insurance. The following criteria apply to everyone interested in getting tested:

  • Testing will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • All site visitors must wear facial covering as designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • A State of Florida approved photo ID with current address is required.
  • Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with the birth certificate and documentation of guardianship.
  • Both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients can be tested.
  • There is a 48-72-hour turnaround time for test results from the DOH.
  • Results are confidential and are only shared with the patient.

Testing allows health officials to identify which areas have infections, how many people are infected, and the seriousness of the infection’s growth rate.

Everyone is urged to follow the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines such as social distancing, complying with facial covering requirements, washing or sanitizing hands, and staying home if you can do so.
