The South Florida Water Management District is at increased readiness for Hurricane Irma. Water managers are closely monitoring the major hurricane for potential flooding impacts to South Florida.
In preparation, water managers are working around the clock to lower regional canals and make adjustments to water control structures as needed to move any stormwater from Irma as quickly and safely as possible. They are also closely coordinating with local drainage districts and governments that operate local canal systems.
