TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SOUTH RUNWAY FOR REPAIR/MAINTENANCE WORK
Monday, June 8 through Monday, July 6, 2020
DAVIE, Fla – The South Runway (10R-28L) at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will close temporarily, beginning on Monday, June 8 at 6 a.m. through July 6, 2020 at 6 p.m. The temporary closure is necessary to conduct repair and maintenance work.
The lengthy duration is necessary to allow time for the new concrete to properly cure. Specifically, the maintenance work involves the replacement of concrete panels, repairing joint seals, re-grooving those repaired sections of the runway, and repainting airfield markings. The work has been coordinated with the airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration.
During the 28-day closure, all traffic will use the North Runway. FLL scheduled commercial service is at an extremely reduced level, so there is anticipated minimal impact on airport operations and those within flight paths.
