TOWN ADMINISTRATOR RICHARD J. LEMACK APPOINTS ACTING POLICE CHIEF
DAVIE, Fla. – Effective Thursday, April 16, 2020, Town Administrator Richard J. Lemack appoints former Davie Police Chief Patrick Lynn as Acting Police Chief.
Chief Lynn served as Davie’s Police Chief for close to 10 years before he retired in 2017. In announcing this appointment, Mr. Lemack stated that Chief Lynn has “the institutional knowledge of the agency, the community, along with the requisite leadership skills to provide interim guidance and support.”
During his tenure, Chief Lynn was instrumental in restructuring the agency to receive accreditation with the Commission of Florida Accreditation, increased staffing, enhanced specialized units and introduced advanced police gun range as well as progressive training for his staff. Among his many leadership roles, in 2012, Chief Lynn served as the President of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association where he fulfilled the mission of ensuring the coordination of law enforcement agencies throughout Broward County. Under his guidance, the Police Department has received numerous awards and grants, keeping the Davie Police Department at the forefront of law enforcement including technology.
With his more than 35 years of service in public safety and municipal government, Chief Lynn’s expertise will ensure the seamless continuity of the agency’s operations.
Chief Lynn will assume this temporary role while allegations brought forward by the Fraternal Order of Police against current Police Chief, Dale Engle, are being investigated.
