TOWN OF DAVIE EARNS SILVER-LEVEL CERTIFICATION
DAVIE, Fla. – The Town of Davie recently earned a silver-level certification under the Florida Green Building Coalition’s (FGBC) Florida Green Local Government designation program. Engaging and promoting sustainable actions are celebrated and recognized throughout the Town.
The Florida Green Building Coalition is a membership-based non-profit organization that administers certification standards and provides education to promote sustainable building, development and business practices.
Among the most significant and lasting results of the Town’s pursuit of FGLG certification was the establishment of a Public Works and Capital Projects Department Water Reduction Plan, the Town’s Tree Preservation Program, implementing Green Standards in Government Buildings, requiring mitigation for consumption of natural habitat or resources, and recycling.
“This achievement demonstrates the Town’s continuous commitment to protect and conserve the Town’s natural resources, enhance our agricultural lifestyle and green open spaces, as well as promoting sustainable actions throughout the Town, said Town of Davie Mayor Judy Paul.
About the Town’s Membership
The Town of Davie became a member of the FGBC in 2007 and received its first Silver-level certification in 2011 by successfully meeting sustainability standards established in the Florida Green Building Coalition’s Green Local Government program.
