COVID-19 UPDATE #24

TOWN OF DAVIE EMERGENCY ORDER 20-03: PUBLIC URGED TO WEAR FACE COVERINGS; CDC RECOMMENDATIONS

En Español

DAVIE, Fla. – With the unpredictability surrounding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the safety of our residents is of utmost importance, especially during this time. Our goal is to do all we can to reduce the chances of COVID-19 spreading and ensure we provide a safe environment for all residents. For all prior information posted regarding COVID-19, please visit our website at www.davie-fl.gov/coronavirus.

Emergency Order 20-03

All citizens and residents of the Town of Davie, as well as all visitors to the Town, are strongly urged to use cloth face coverings while utilizing essential services or engaging in essential activities, in addition to other recommended social distancing measures, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission, including, but not limited to grocery stores, hardware stores, and pharmacies.

CDC Recommendations

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone voluntarily wear a basic cloth or fabric face mask when they go out in order to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus. Medical masks, including surgical masks and N95 masks, should still be reserved for health care workers. Face coverings can help slow the spread from people who may have COVID-19 and are unaware of it from spreading it to others through speaking, coughing, or sneezing.

According to the CDC, this recommendation complements and does not replace the President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America, 30 Days to Slow the Spread, which remains the cornerstone of the national effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus. CDC will make additional recommendations as evidence regarding appropriate public health measures continues to develop. Visit, www.cdc.gov for more information.
