Residents Are Urged to Prepare For Tropical Rainfall

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is continuing operational measures that began over the weekend to provide maximum flood protection for South Florida residents as rain from tropical disturbance 92L are expected to fall throughout the region over the coming days.

Approximately 1-3 inches of rain is forecast to fall on areas of Broward County on Wednesday and on Thursday, as much as 4 inches of rain has been forecast in some areas of the Lower East Coast.

SFWMD opened tidal structures and lowered canals in Broward County over the weekend in preparation for the rainfall. This will allow water to move as quickly as possible and accept any excess stormwater from local canals.

For more information, please visit the South Florida Water Management District’s website or Ready.gov for more flooding information.
