DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. CELEBRATION AND HOLIDAY CLOSINGS
Featuring guest speaker Broward County Mayor Dale V.C. Holness
DAVIE, Fla. – The Town of Davie will hold its Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Davie Town Hall, 6591 Orange Drive, Davie, FL 33314 beginning at 1 p.m.
Alongside the Town of Davie Mayor Judy Paul and Town Council, Broward County Mayor Dale V.C. Holness will serve as this year’s guest speaker. He will address the audience with a commemorative speech to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The winners of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. poetry contest and art contest will also be featured during the ceremony. Contest winners were selected from several local elementary, middle and high school students who responded to the contest.
Free and open to the public, this event will provide light refreshments and entertainment as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For more information, please call 954-797-1181.
MLK Holiday Closings
The Town of Davie governmental offices will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2020, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Please take note of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts facilities hours for this day:
- The Pine Island Fitness will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- The Pine Island Aquatics Center will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
- All parks will be open.
- All sports programs and the Pine Island Multipurpose Center will be closed for the holiday.
