DAVIE TOWN HALL CLOSED ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2019

HURRICANE ADVISORY #12

 

DAVIE, Fla. – The Town of Davie Emergency Management Officials continue to monitor Hurricane Dorian’s path. Please take note of the following closures for Town and County business:


Town of Davie Office Closures:

  • Davie Town Hall and other Davie government offices are closed on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
  • The Pine Island Multipurpose Center is closed until further notice.
  • The Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center is closed until further notice.
  • All parks are closed until further notice.

 

Solid Waste Services:

Due to the conditions that are anticipated from Hurricane Dorian, the Town and Waste Management have suspended garbage and recycling services for Monday, September 2, 2019 and Tuesday, September 3, 2019.


Bulk pickup is cancelled for Monday, September 2 through Saturday, September 7, 2019. Residents should not put bulk items out at this time. Bulk items left out as the storm approaches, can become harmful projectiles in high winds. The Town’s Code Compliance inspectors will issue citations to homeowners who place bulk items both curbside and on the swale.


Solid/commingled and recyclable materials and carts should be properly secured in a safe, sheltered location.

 

Davie Green and Blue Bus Routes and SFEC Operations Suspended:

  • The Town of Davie’s Green and Blue bus routes will not be operating tomorrow, Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
  • The South Florida Education Center (SFEC) Campus Shuttle/Tri-Rail will not be operating tomorrow, Tuesday, September 3, 2019.


Closures for Local Colleges and Universities:

 

Broward County Closures:

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and North Perry Airport closed at noon today, September 2. Passengers should contact their airline for delays and cancellations information.

Port Everglades is closed. Passengers should contact their cruise line for delays and cancellations information.

Broward County Transit has suspended fixed route and Paratransit bus service for today, September 2.

County parks, libraries and the Animal Care and Adoption Center are closed to the public until further notice. Animal Care staff remains on site to tend to the animals and keep the shelter clean.

All services of the Broward Addiction Recovery Center are suspended until further notice. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, go to your nearest emergency center.

All drawbridges are locked down to facilitate vehicular evacuations. There are no evacuation orders at this time.

 

Tolls Suspended:

Tolls are suspended on Florida’s Turnpike and other roads in South and Central Florida, as local mandatory evacuation orders started and large portions of the state’s East Coast continued to face threats from catastrophic Hurricane Dorian.

 

Safety Tips:

Residents are strongly encouraged not to go outside or wade in standing flood water, which can contain contaminants such as sewage and chemicals. Children or pets are strongly discouraged from going outside or playing in flood waters. Following a heavy storm, sharp debris could be hidden in the water and cause injury. Standing water also may contain harmful bacteria that could cause infection. If downed power lines are hidden under standing water, there is the risk of electrocution.
