UPDATE: NOVA DRIVE ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS FROM DAVIE ROAD TO SW 76TH AVENUE
Davie, Fla., - As of July 2019, the contractor has completed all drainage infrastructure work on Nova Drive between Davie Road and College Avenue and also finished the curbing and sidewalk installations on the south side section of the roadway. The contractor is currently finalizing the road base for the southbound lanes and is scheduling the implementation of paving operations for the south side during daytime hours between July 25 and July 30, 2019. Eastbound traffic will shift to the newly paved southbound lanes. Paving operations will move to the center lane to make connections between outside lanes at the driveway openings to the Westport Plaza and business park. Some intermittent access inconvenience may be experienced while the center driveway intersection connections are being paved. This portion of the work is scheduled for nighttime to minimize traffic impacts in the corridor. Pavement striping operations will occur at night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. to minimize traffic impacts. The paving duration of this roadway segment is expected to take one week. Construction activities will then be concentrated on the center medians once this segment of paving is completed.
The week of July 22, 2019, the project is moving to the next construction phase - west of Nova Drive. Construction activities will be concentrated between SW 70th Avenue and SW 71st Terrace over the next 30 days. Road widening will progress on one side of the roadway at a time starting on the south side to minimize traffic and pedestrian impacts. To minimize water service impacts, intermittent nighttime work will occur to perform water main deflection. Impacted customers will be notified.
Project Overview: Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. began construction the second week of September 2018 on Nova Drive beginning east at Davie Road and progressing west to SW 76th Avenue. The work is expected to be completed February 2020.
The scope of the work consists of widening the existing multi-lane road configuration throughout the corridor to accommodate a combination of shared and designated bike lanes, intermittent landscape medians, turn lanes and the construction of a traffic roundabout 200ft west of SW 71st Terrace together with the expansion to a four lane divided section with landscape medians from Davie Road to College Avenue. Existing drainage facilities will be modified and new drainage facilities will be added. New sidewalks, curbing, curb ramps, roadway lighting, landscaping with irrigation, new signalization, as well as road construction, milling, resurfacing, and new pavement markings and signage will be constructed.
Traffic will be impacted throughout the duration of the project. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes other than Nova Drive to their destinations, whenever possible. Two lane, bi-directional traffic will be maintained whenever feasible, however, there will be periods where traffic will be reduced to a shared single lane with flag personnel or a road closure with traffic detour signs. Please expect delays.
Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. We apologize for any inconvenience as we complete these improvements in your neighborhood.
