TOWN OF DAVIE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES MULTIPLE AWARDS AT ANNUAL FIRST THERE FIRST CARE CONFERENCE


DAVIE, Fla. –On Thursday, June 6, 2019, the Fire Chiefs’ Association of Broward County presented a series of awards to Davie Fire Rescue personnel at the 23rd annual First There First Care Conference at the Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Weston, Florida.

Themed “Stronger Together,” this conference attracted paramedics, EMTs, nurses and other healthcare professionals from South Florida and surrounding areas. It focused on and explored topics in technology and the future for EMS providers and emergency department staff.

With over 600 people in attendance, the Town of Davie Fire Rescue Department represented the community and took home five awards in the following four categories:

Ralph Morrison Lifetime Achievement Award:

Medical Director Dr. Peter Antevy


Innovator of the Year Award:

Assistant Chief Jorge Gonzalez


Public Educator of the Year Award:

Battalion Chief Heath Meyer


Lifetime Achievement Award:

Fire Chief Julie Downey

Battalion Chief Andrew Popick


Mayor Judy Paul expressed her gratitude for the talent the fire department provides and admires its determination to excel.

“It’s always an incredible honor to hear our town is making strides to surpass expectations,” Paul said. “When you have a fire department as great as Davie’s continually receiving awards and getting acknowledged for all its amazing work, it puts your mind at ease knowing the town has the best team responding to its public safety needs.”

Fire Chief Julie Downey said she was very proud of her teams’ accomplishments.

“The Town of Davie Fire Rescue Department has set the standard for innovation and commitment to making a difference in the community,” Downey said.“These awards are a testament to the staff’s indisputable dedication and we look forward to their continued contributions. It’s a true honor to be able to work alongside such an amazing group of individuals.”
