Fireworks Safety Reminder
As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, please be reminded that fireworks are a safety hazard and can be harmful to people as well as equines and other animals.Chapter 791 of the Florida Statutes provides that the illegal use of fireworks is a first-degree misdemeanor, which means those convicted could face up to a year in a prison, a $1,000 fine and court costs.
Section 7-3 of the Town Code also prohibits the exploding of any fireworks within 1,000 feet of any livestock enclosure, stable or kennel. The general public can legally purchase and use sparklers and similar novelty items that do not explode or launch into the air, while large public fireworks shows may be conducted only by way of a Town-issued license. For the safety of all Davie residents as well as your equines and animals, please observe all state and local laws and enjoy the fireworks shows conducted by licensed professionals. The Town’s Independence Day Fireworks and Family Fun Day will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Pine Island Park, 3801 S. Pine Island Road. The activities will begin at 10 a.m. Come and enjoy the fun and see a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m.
