Portions of Davie to be Sprayed for Mosquito Larvae the week of June 25-29, 2018

Broward County, FL – Recent rains have prompted the need for the Mosquito Control Section to spray some areas of the County to reduce the mosquito larvae population. The mosquito being targeted is the Aedes aegypti, a known disease-carrying mosquito.

Preventive truck larviciding will be performed between the hours of 10PM and 6AM, weather permitting, June 25-29, 2018 in some areas of Davie. A map of the targeted areas can be found on the Broward County Mosquito Control Website. Details on the larvicide being used can be found here.

Broward County Mosquito Control Section sprays areas of the County by truck and plane, based on requests received from residents. To request service online, complete the Mosquito Spray Request Form or call 954-765-4062.

The mosquito larvicide, VectoBac WDG, is not harmful to humans, pets, bees, aquatic habitats or environmentally sensitive areas. It's certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and is registered for use by the US Environmental Protection Agency. People living in the area who have registered with the State to be alerted prior to spraying will be notified.

The Broward County Mosquito Control Section works diligently to eliminate mosquitoes and their habitats from Broward's 31 municipalities. You can request mosquito spraying by completing the Mosquito Spray Request Form or calling 954-765-4062.

Residents are the first line of defense when it comes to combatting any mosquito. You'll find detailed information on our website.
