University of Florida Conducting Iguana
Research Along Linear Park (C-11 Canal)

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF-IFAS) has been contracted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and South Florida Water Management District to assess iguana removal from canal banks. The research will begin the week of February 18, 2018 and will end by July 1, 2018. One of the observation sites is along the C-11 canal between Orange Drive and Griffin Road.


IFAS has already began conducting surveys intwo separate sections of the study site and, they will be removing the iguanas
at night from trees and bushes. Therefore, residents may see researchers in thevegetation with flashlights.
