University of Florida Conducting Iguana
Research On Linear Park (C-11 Canal)

The University of Florida Institute of Foodand Agricultural Sciences (UF-IFAS) has been contracted by the Florida Fish and
Wildlife Conservation Commission and South Florida Water Management District toassess iguana removal from canal banks. The research will begin the week of
February 18, 2018 and will end by July 1, 2018. One of the observation sites isalong the C-11 canal between Orange Drive and Griffin Road.


IFAS has already began conducting surveys in
two separate sections of the study site and, they will be removing the iguanasat night from trees and bushes. Therefore, residents may see researchers in the
vegetation with flashlights.
