Davie Receives Tree City USA Award for 27th Consecutive Year
The Town of Davie has been named a 2017 Tree City USA recipient by the Arbor Day Foundation. This award recognizes the Town’s commitment to effective urban forestry management.
This is the 27th consecutive year where Davie has received this prestigious honor. Davie achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
“Trees are an important and vital aspect of our community. They contribute to a healthy ecosystem, they are aesthetically pleasing, and they provide an environment for wildlife to thrive”, said Davie Mayor Judy Paul. “The Town designated as a Tree City should come as no surprise, as we have placed a high value and priority on caring for our trees.”
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
