Mayor Judy Paul Welcomes Kim Denmark “Walk” Across America Advocate to Davie
On Monday, November 27, 2017, Kim Denmark, made her way through the Town of Davie as she continues her “Walk” Across America campaign. The campaign is an initiative to bring awareness to homelessness, especially affecting veterans throughout the United States.
Mayor Paul met with Kim where she personally welcomed her to Davie and presented her with a key to the Town.
“I want to thank Ms. Denmark for the tremendous work that she is doing to bring more awareness to the homelessness epidemic we have in our country,” said Mayor Judy Paul. “It’s such a humble feeling to have had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Denmark. We all know someone who is affected and would like to see more done to help the homeless community whether it’s through housing programs, or making a significant investment in life changing skills.”
Kim began her journey over nine years ago in Ohio and has covered over 20 states so far. Her goal is to visit all 50 states and in so doing, stopping to help the homeless along the way.
“So far, my journey to help the homeless has taken me to 16 states, and I have walked over 5,500 miles, used 30 pairs of shoes, and have helped over 402 families and countless veterans,” said Kim Denmark.
Mayor Paul also invited Ms. Denmark to participate in the Town of Davie’s Annual Lighting of the Greens event on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Davie Town Hall, 6591 Orange Drive and will be presenting her with a Mayoral Proclamation declaring Sunday, December 3, 2017 as Kim Denmark Day.
