Statement of Solidarity from Davie Town Council Regarding the Attacks on the State of Israel
The Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Davie stand in solidarity with the State of Israel, the people, the military, and all members of this nation who are hurting, grieving, and outraged by the tragic attack on their country.
The surprise cowardly strikes on Israel were unwarranted and a shock to the world. This war has brought great sadness to our community as we watch our allies being senselessly harmed through acts of violence that are unimaginable, yet we are watching them right in front of us. Never would any of us believe that we would be witnesses to these divisive acts that promulgate hatred.
Now is the time for us to stand strong as a united front with Israel, and I ask the President of the United States, our Members of Congress, State Legislators, and local leaders to put aside our differences and let us unite to denounce and condemn all terrorist acts around the world.
The Town of Davie is proud of its partnership with the David Posnack Jewish Community Center, the Chabad organizations in Davie, and the Jewish Federation, and we will continue to support our Jewish brothers and sisters. Through these harrowing and sensitive times, we will continue providing additional public safety resources to our synagogues and schools as we renew our commitment to have and maintain peace in our community.
As community leaders, we have a duty and a responsibility to provide for shared public values of fairness, dignity, and justice. We must take a stand against the death and destruction of war, which never solves any problems but only leads to more needless and devastating consequences.
We must work together to stop antisemitism in our community and the world. It is up to us to make fundamental changes as we call for peace and harmony.
