This hearing is being held as part of a current Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study that is being conducted to evaluate proposed transportation solutions for congestion management in the Plantation Midtown District and to provide documented information necessary for the City of Plantation to reach a decision on the type, design, and location of the improvements. The project proposes the construction of a new bridge connection over the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) New River Canal between WB SR 84 and SW 17th Street.

The public hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m. with a formal presentation starting at 6 p.m. followed by a public comment period. A copy of the Public Notice with a location map for the hearing is enclosed. Notices are being sent to all property owners and tenants located within at least 300 feet on either side of the proposed alignment and to other public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations, and individuals interested in the project. The hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FOOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26, 2022, and executed by FHWA and FOOT.

In the event that the Public Hearing cannot be held on Nov. 10, 2022, due to severe weather or other unforeseen conditions, it will be held on the alternate date of Nov. 15, 2022, at the same time and place.

If you would like to review the project documents prior to the Public Hearing, they will be available to the public beginning on Oct. 20, 2022, at the Plantation City Hall located at 400 NW 73 Avenue, Plantation FL 33317 Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The documents are also available on the project website at www.plantation.org/MidtownBridqe.
