COVID-19 Update #67 Governor's EO Moves Florida Into Phase 3; Broward County Issues EO 20-26

Governor Ron DeSantis has issued Executive Order 20-244, placing all of Florida into Phase 3 of the State's COVID-19 recovery plan. In response to the Governor’s order, Broward County has issued Emergency Order 20-26, which conforms Broward County’s Emergency Orders to the legal parameters of the Governor’s orders.

The Governor's order affects Broward County in the following manner:
• All state restrictions are lifted, but counties in South Florida, the former epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, have been advised they may enforce certain local rules with respect to Phase 3 reopening.
• No businesses are closed as a result of COVID-19; all businesses may open but County Emergency Orders that are not preempted by the Governor’s Executive Order still apply.
• Suspends Broward County’s ability to fine individuals for not wearing a facial covering.
• Under the Governor’s Order all businesses, including bars, nightclubs and other establishments previously closed by local emergency orders, have been reopened. Local jurisdictions retain some rights to impose guidelines and restrictions.

All amended requirements can be viewed in Emergency Order 20-26.
