The Town has received the following Awards and Recognition in Sustainable Development
Green Local Government
The Town has become a FGBC Green Local Government. The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) is a non-profit organization working to improve the built environment. The Town is now pursuing gold certification.
Milestone Achievement
The Town of Davie obtained a Milestone Achievement Award in recognition of leadership and tangible progress toward climate protection from ICLEI, by meeting the first three milestones.
The Town Has Also Received the Following Grants to Implement Sustainable Initiatives
Awarded three Broward County Partners in Preservation grants totaling $128,000 to restore native tree canopy and remove invasive vegetation in parks.
Awarded three Broward County Parks For People grants totaling $123,000 at Sunny Lake Bird Sanctuary, Liberty Park and the Davie Wetlands Park, and was used towards incorporating green components into the development of these facilities.
Awarded a $20,000 Recycling Grant to expand its single stream recycling program and provide larger bins to residents.
Other Awards
The Town was also awarded the "Outstanding Forestry Program in Florida" from the Florida Urban Forestry Council and has led the efforts in keeping the town a tree city since 1991.
The Town’s fleet program has been recognized as among the “100 Best Fleets in North America”.
