Paid Time Off Hours (Vacation & Sick Leave) 

48 Hour Employees

  • Less than five (5) years: 240 hours per year
  • Completion of five (5) years: 288 hours per year
  • Completion of ten (10) years: 336 hours per year

40 Hour Employees

  • Less than five (5) years: 170 hours per year
  • Completion of five (5) years: 210 hours per year
  • Completion of ten (10) years: 250 hours per year

Holidays

  • Forty-eight (48) hour employees shall be compensated with their base hourly rate of pay for twelve and one half (12.5) holidays per year as designated by the Town, excluding Quality Service Days, at a rate of twelve (12) hours of their base hourly rate of pay per holiday.
  • Forty (40) hour employees shall observe the officially designated Town holidays.
     

Medical & Dental Insurance

Medical
Employees are given a choice of three Medical Plans: town pays 100% for single coverage and 50% dependant coverage for Unitedhealthcare EPO, POS, or HSA.  

Dental
Employee has choice of one of 4 plans: Humana DMO, DMO Buy-Up or PPO (high and low)

Long Term Disability

  • 50% of earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $7,500.00 after 90 days and an additional 10% of your salary with an optional employee-paid buy up.

Short Term Disability

  • 50% of weekly salary up to $1500.00 each week for 10 weeks 

Life Insurance / AD & D

  • $50,000. Employees may also purchase additional insurance up to five times their salary (max of $400,000.00) and dependent insurance. 

Pension

  • Multiplier: 3.125% per year with 80% cap/maximum 
  • DROP: 6 years 
  • AFC: 5 best of last 10 years 
  • Normal retirement: 24 years, or age 55 and 10 years service 
  • Early retirement: Age 50 and 10 years of service 
  • Vesting: 10 years 
  • Employee contributions: 9% 

Annual Longevity

Employees hired on or after October 1, 1985 shall be paid the following longevity:   

  • 72 -119 months: $1,000   
  • 120 - 180 months: $1,500   
  • 181 or more months: $2,000 

Tuition Reimbursement

The Town agrees to reimburse for all job related courses, subject to the reimbursement schedule, taken by employees of the Fire Department with the approval of the Fire Chief or designee; however, all courses shall be completed with a passing grade. The Town will reimburse one hundred percent (100%) of tuition costs equivalent to those amounts charged by a State of Florida University or Community College if course is available at the lower level institution. 

Educational Incentive (Additional State Incentive May Be Provided)

  • E.M.T. State Certificate - $2,125 Flat Rate   
  • Fire Officer I State Certificate - $900 Flat Rate   
  • A.S. Degree in Fire Science/EMS or closely related field, as determined by the Fire Chief of designee - Step increase (not to exceed maximum pay grade)   
  • Paramedic State Certificate (Fire Inspector & personnel assigned to the fire inspection bureau are not eligible):
    $5,000 Flat Rate
    Increases to $5,750 after 3 yrs working experience (as a paramedic)
    Increases to $6,500 after 4 yrs working experience (as a paramedic)
    Increases to $7,250 after 5 yrs working experience (as a paramedic)   
  • Fire Inspector State & County Certificate: Five percent (5%) or starting Fire Inspector pay for hours worked as a Fire Inspector when assigned by the Fire Chief.

Service Awards

  • Upon completion of 5 years: $100 (full time) cash $50 (part time)
  • Upon completion of 10 years: $250 (full time) cash $125 (part time)
  • Upon completion of 15 years: $350 (full time) cash $175 (part time)
  • Upon completion of 20 years: $500 (full time) cash $250 (part time)
  • Given thereafter in increments of 5 years up to 50 years of service increase by $50 increments
