Development of Budget

Development of the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget began in March 2023 and public participation was encouraged. The Town Council’s Vision and Goal Setting Session was held on March 30, 2023 and six (6) Community Forums were held in May 2023.

Over the summer months, the Town Council held the following public workshops to discuss and refine the proposed Fiscal Year 2024 Budget. Two public hearings were held in September 2023 during which the FY 2024 Budget was adopted.

Millage Rates

The Fiscal Year 2024 millage rates (i.e., tax rate) and Fiscal Year 2024 Budget were adopted in September 2023 following two public hearings. Assessment rates for the fire protection assessment and solid waste assessment were approved during a separate hearing. The public was invited to attend these hearings and speak on the proposed assessment rates, millage rates, and budget. The tentative millage rates and budget were approved at the first budget hearing, while the final millage rates and budget for Fiscal Year 2024 were adopted at the second budget hearing.
