Captain Shawn Ravine began his law enforcement career with the Hallandale Beach Police Department in 1994 and transitioned to Davie Police Department in 1998. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University. He is also a graduate of the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute 88th Command Officer’s Development Course.
Captain Ravine's first assignment was under the Road Patrol Division, where he also served as a Crisis Negotiator and Field Force Team member. In 2001, he became a detective where he worked for seven years under various units in the Criminal Investigations Division. In 2007, Captain Ravine was promoted to the rank of Sergeant assigned to the Road Patrol Division and has worked in various supervisory roles in the division. In 2015, he transferred back to Criminal Investigations Unit as the Major Crimes Supervisor.
In 2019, Captain Ravine was assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit and in 2020, Captain Ravine was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and then Captain. As a Lieutenant, he commanded the Youth Services Unit. Captain Ravine is currently the Captain of the Road Patrol Division.
