About the Davie Town Hall Project

In 2019, the Davie Town Council approved the construction of a new Town Hall at the existing location, 6591 Orange Drive.

The former facility, despite ongoing maintenance, has become functionally obsolete with plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, façade deterioration, and pest infestation issues. In addition, the original design is unsafe from a security standpoint, technologically inadequate, and has numerous challenges to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These challenges and staffing increases require additional space to serve the community. Finally, there is insufficient public meeting space and the high cost for capital improvements exceeds the investment value and would still not address the space and security challenges.

The nNew Townhall Rendering Frontew Town Hall has been designed in such a manner to increase the green space, enhance our sustainability efforts, improve pedestrian safety, and incorporate traffic calming measures for vehicular access. Even more exciting is the design incorporates visual elements on the exterior to replicate the front of the original Town Hall. In addition, the exterior appearances will demonstrate our commitment to our western theme with textured stucco, stacked stone, and metal roofing. As a result, the building will be safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly while depicting our historical culture. The new facility will evoke the feeling of walking through the past and entering the future.

The new Davie Town Hall is designed to have four floors and approximately 80,000 square feet. It will capture the elements of the Western Theme Design Manual with a maintenance-friendly modern look with faux wood and stacked stone. In addition, the new Town Hall will incorporate other major Western characteristics, including large roof overhangs, covered front porches, metal roofing, a clock New Townhall Renderingand a wind vane.

The Town is consolidating the four former Town Hall buildings into one, allowing for approximately one acre of green space to be added around the new Town Hall campus. The facility’s designs will increase the green space, enhance our sustainability efforts, improve pedestrian safety and incorporate traffic calming measures for vehicular access. The building’s architecture will recreate the original front entrance to the Council Chambers for a historical remembrance of walking from the past into the future. In addition, the exterior appearances will demonstrate our commitment to our western theme with textured stucco, stacked stone, and metal roofing. As a result, the building will be safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly while depicting our historical culture. Be on the lookout for the changes that will be taking place on this site throughout the next three years.

The former Town Hall structure is anticipated to be demolished in Fall 2022 to accommodate the buildout of the new facility. The new facility will be adjacent to another redevelopment project, Frontier Square, planned at the northwest corner of Orange Drive and Davie Road. Frontier Square is a 150,000-square-foot entertainment venue with a parking garage.

Since March 2022, all services previously provided at the former Town Hall site were relocated to a Temporary Town Hall (TTH) consisting of modular buildings located at Pine Island Park, 8800 SW 36th Street (see images below). The Town relocated two park amenities within the park (skateboarding and pickleball) to accommodate the TTH. Additional parking was added and is a welcomed addition for youth sports activities. Town Council meetings, workshops, hearings committee and other meetings have also relocated to Pine Island Multipurpose Center adjacent to the TTH.

For more than 40 years, the former Davie Town Hall has been an iconic landmark in the Downtown Davie area. As such, the Town Council saw this as an essential part of our investment in the ongoing redevelopment. The new Town Hall will preserve the existing open space and reflect the western theme unique to the Town’s heritage.
