POETRY CONTEST
The Town of Davie invites students to participate in our annual
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Poetry Contest.
The hope and goal of this contest is to educate and inform students of all ages of the lifetime achievements of this great Nobel Peace Prize winning American. The submitted poems should reflect Dr. King’s values of peace, love, unity, concerns for humanity and non-violence.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day poetry contest winners will be announced on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 1:00pm, at Bamford Sports Complex 3801 S. Pine Island Rd.
All participants and their families are invited to attend this FREE family event. Ribbons will be awarded for the best poems in all grade levels from participating schools and groups. All entries submitted will receive a participation ribbon.

POETRY CONTEST
CONTEST RULES AND CONDITIONS
- Each Category will be judged separately (Elementary, Middle, High School).
2) Entries should reflect Dr. King’s concept of peace, love, unity, concerns for humanity and nonviolence.
3) Each grade level (school/group) may submit up to ten (10) of their most creative pieces from each grade.
4) All poetry entries must be typed, and must have student’s name, age, grade, school name and
phone number in the lower right-hand corner of entry.
5) All entries must be submitted to the Town of Davie, via the online registration application. Deadline for all entries is 4:00 p.m., January 8, 2024.
6) Judges’ decisions are final
All entries submitted will receive participation ribbons.
Winning poems will receive an award and entry may be read during our MLK, Jr. ceremony.
Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Festivities include excerpts from Dr. King's "I have a Dream" speech, guest speakers, musical performances and poetry contest presentations.
