A Brief history
In January of 2000, at the request of the Davie Town Council, an ad appeared in the Town's local paper asking if there are, "Any thespians out there?" A number of people responded and became the nucleus for the Town's first community theatre.
A core group of eight men and women began rehearsing scenes from internationally famous plays, with the intent of eventually putting on a performance. Soon, two other dedicated players joined the group an began helping with the planned show.
On October 20 and 21, 2000, the preproduction of "An evening of Scenes: The Passion of Tennessee Williams, The Laughter of Neil Simon" was presented at Robbin's Lodge before an appreciative audience. After this initial venture, a board of governors was elected. Thus the birth of the Actors Community Theatre of Davie.

This memorable play is a consensus choice as one of the greatest
American plays of all time. Williams’ moving, thoughtful and extremely
enjoyable play focuses on the Wingfield family: faded Southern
belle Amanda, her fragile daughter Laura, and cynical yet loving
son Tom. A gentleman caller’s visit to the Wingfield home changes
the lives of all in the family, in fascinating and unexpected ways.

This sophisticated, explosively hilarious play tells the story of Marjorie
Taub, a wealthy New York culture maven experiencing a mid-life
crisis. Marjorie is roused out of her boredom by the reappearance of a
close childhood friend who is now a globetrotting adventurer. Marjorie
and her acclaimed physician husband are introduced to a variety of
startling new experiences, which provide the Taubs with a changed
perspective, and the audience with a hilarious evening of theatre.

Jenny and Bernard Acton are upwardly mobile suburbanites who
lack only money to be truly happy. Jenny is offered a “career” which
stands to provide her and her husband with the funds to finance
the lifestyle of which they have dreamed, and finds, to her great
surprise, that the women in her social circle are already pursuing
the world’s “oldest profession” in order to advance up the economic
ladder. Albee provides a biting satire of middle-class mores, along
with compelling characterizations.
