We are so pleased to announce that Mr. Alberto Fernandez, Sr. is the 2009 Humanitarian of the Year for the EASE Foundation.
A luncheon was held in his honor Thursday, October 1, 2009 in the salons of Signature Grand.
Mr. Fernandez was selected this year for his generous contributions of time, talent and finances to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Memorial Hospital. He sits on their Boards and is currently Chairman of the Capital Campaign Committee.
A retired Delta Airlines captain after 31 years, he sits on the Vestry Board of Saint Margaret’s and San Francisco de Asisi Catholic Church located in Miami Lakes. He is Executive Director, Founder and Board Member of Peaceful Haven Ranch, a group home established for the mentally challenged where his daughter, Lisette resides. He is also a Corporate Partner of Nova Southeastern University.
In February, 2009 he assisted his son, Al Fernandez Jr. with the Tour de Cure cycling event that raised over $186,000 for the American Diabetes Association.~ He received the 2009 Valor Award for his outstanding work with them.
Mr. Fernandez also founded the ANF Group, a construction and development company in Cooper City. He retired from there in 1995, and now his son is President.
