 Mayor Tom Truex
Mayor Tom Truex has been a resident of Davie since 1987. He graduated from Miramar High School, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida. He practices law in Davie.
Before being elected Mayor, Mr. Truex served as the councilmember for District 2, and before that, he served the Town of Davie as the chairman of the Charter Review Board and as a member of the District Boundaries Committee. Mayor Truex also served as a board member of the E.A.S.E. Foundation, Inc., Davie Merchant Industrial Association, and the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce. While Mayor Truex’s philosophy has always been to protect and to promote open space and the environment, he has also been an advocate of business development. Mayor Truex has always supported a happy medium between residential and commercial development.
Mayor Truex has been married to Janet for 20 years. They have four children. He enjoys gardening, basketball, unicycling, and computers.
