On September 19, 2007, at 9 a.m., The Town of Davie Parks and Recreation Department will launch a new monthly program at the Pine Island Multipurpose Center, 3801 S. Pine Island Road, called Veterans Monthly Breakfast Assembly. The program will feature a breakfast, guest speakers, and other activities for veterans and for individuals currently serving in our military.
Davie’s Recreation Leader Betty Daly, who has been instrumental in promoting the new monthly event, said “the program was created to show our appreciation and respect for the people who have served and who are now serving our country. We are looking forward to a great turnout.”
Veterans Monthly Breakfast Assembly, scheduled to meet on the third Wednesday of each month (Nov & Dec meet on the second Wed) will offer a continental breakfast (at no charge) at 9 a.m. and a special guest speaker at 10 a.m. Afterward, attendees have the option to stay until 1 p.m. to participate in chess, cards, or a support group. A bag lunch can be brought along for those who opt to stay.
The guest speaker for the first Veterans Monthly Breakfast Assembly will be Paul Magellan, Director of the Miami Veterans Administration. The topic will be Healthcare System for Veterans.
