FIRE INSPECTOR

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under limited supervision, performs technical and specialized inspection work examining buildings for life safety, building construction and specifications to determine compliance with the Town Fire Prevention Code. Is responsible for coordinating all field inspections. Reports to Fire Chief. The selection process may include successfully meeting the Town's minimum standards of each of the following:  background investigation, final selection interview(s), psychological and/or personality/suitability examination, deception detection examination(s), medical examination and screening for controlled substance usage.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and two years experience as a firefighter and/or a fire inspector preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. EMT Certification preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must hold a current Florida Certificate of Compliance as a Firefighter.  Must possess a valid Class "E" Florida driver's license. *Must provide a Certified copy of your seven (7) year driving history profile (with application) obtained from the DMV or Courthouse ONLY. Profiles purchased via the internet will not be accepted.  Must possess a State of Florida Fire Inspector Certificate.   Broward County Fire Inspector must be obtained within six months of employment date.  Must provide proof of valid Physical Ability Test at time of job offer.

PAY RANGE: $54,971 - $79,284/Yr

*DRIVING HISTORY STANDARDS
Applicants for all positions which may require you to operate a Town of Davie vehicle, must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.  Additionally, an unfavorable driving history may be grounds for disqualification as follows:

a)      No more than three moving violations within the past three years;
b)      Having a suspended driver’s license within the past five years;
c)      Having three or more “at fault” traffic crashes within the past five years;
d)      Having four or more points charged against their driving record within the past seven years.

Employment of Relatives:  Employment of Relatives: Pursuant to the Town of Davie Charter, no individual may be appointed or hired as an officer or employee of the town into a position supervised by a relative as defined by a relative.  Further, whenever there is such an individual employed by the town, all provisions of Florida State Statute 112.3135, as it may be amended from time to time, shall apply.
