Davie Town Council Proclaim State of Israel Day
In recognition of Israel’s 60th Anniversary as a modern Jewish State and acknowledging the special friendship between the United States and Israel, the Davie Town Council proclaimed May 4, 2008, as the State of Israel Day in Davie, at the April 16, Council meeting.

Davie officials recognized the efforts and work of the Jewish Federation of Broward, here in Davie and Broward, as well as abroad. Its endeavors have made it a pillar of strength, guidance, support, and encouragement to the citizens it serves.

Mayor Tom Truex said, “It’s important to recognize the relationship between the United States and Israel, and by extension, the important work done by the Jewish Federation of Broward.”

To commemorate Israel’s 60th Anniversary, The Jewish Federation of Broward along with Nova Southeastern University will host a signature event on May 4, 2008. Everyone is invited and highlights of the program include Israeli entertainment, an Israeli style marketplace, professional art galleries from Israel on display, art competitions for children and seniors with Israeli themes, and special exhibits on Israeli culture and industry.
