Davie residents are encouraged to recycle their used electronic equipment and to dispose of household hazardous waste in an environmentally safe manner—and now it’s easier than ever.
Thanks to a partnership between Broward County Waste and Recycling Services and the Town of Davie, a free drop-off event will be held on Sunday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Pine Island Park, located at 3801 S. Pine Island Road.
Residents can dispose of household hazardous waste safely and for free. These items include fluorescent tubes and bulbs, paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, household chemicals, lawn and pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, and fire extinguishers. Additionally, used electronics items including TVs, computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, fax machines, cell phones and rechargeable batteries can be dropped off. Proof of Broward County residency is required. Items that cannot be accepted are stereos, microwaves, kitchen appliances, explosives, biohazardous waste and business-generated waste.
In addition to this special event, Broward County operates the following permanent drop-off locations:
2780 N. Powerline Rd., Pompano Beach (north of Copans Rd.): Open every Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Accepts: household hazardous waste and used electronics.
