The Town of Davie’s Driftwood Estates Park has moved into place to win a prize of $5,000 in the “Staples Dream Park Challenge with D-Wade,” a local parks improvement initiative. Since February 14, throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties, 18 parks including Driftwood Estates Park have been competing for the chance to win the grand prize of $25,000 to be used for park improvements and a winner’s celebration featuring NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade. Additional prizes include $10,000 and $5,000 in park improvements for the second and third parks who have the most
votes. The remaining 15 parks will receive $1,000 each for their participation.
Please keep on voting for Driftwood Estates Park until the contest ends on April 10, 2008. Keep us in the winners circle by voting online once per day at http://www.staplesdreampark.com. Pick up a “power card” at any South Florida Staples store to obtain 10 extra online votes. Voters will automatically be entered to win a chance to meet D-Wade in person or one of five autographed jerseys.
Driftwood Estates Park located at 3300 N.W. 77 Avenue is an essential part of the Davie community. Local organizations such as the Rick and Rita Case Boys and Girls Club rely on the park for sports and recreation. Driftwood Estates Park’s facilities include a multiuse ball field, play area, shelter, picnic area, and trails. Driftwood Estates Park would use the prize money to install football goals on the existing ball field, to renovate the turf area, or to purchase new playground equipment.
Dennis Andresky, Davie Parks and Recreation Director, says, “Davie is proud of its parks and recreation facilities and is committed to making improvements. I would like to urge our residents to support us by voting for Davie on the Staples’ website.”
