Recently Davie Fire Chief Joe Montopoli was invited to be the guest speaker at the Davie/Cooper City Rotary Club meeting, which is held at the Ark Restaurant on Stirling Road. Chief Montopoli was enthusiastic and pleased to speak with the members. “Speaking to a group of civic business leaders, such as the Rotary Club, is a great way of staying in touch with the community and its concerns,” said Montopoli. The chief firmly believes in the importance of working closely with the community. “I find that most people are very positive about the job that we do as firefighters/paramedics.”
Being involved in the community allows the chief to further educate the public as to the efforts that Davie Fire-Rescue is making, as well as allows him to elaborate on the department’s goals and needs. “People are smart. If you take a moment to explain things to them, I find that they are receptive and supportive,” added Montopoli. Much of the meeting was spent allowing the members to get better acquainted with Chief Montopoli and to open the line of communication. “If they [the Rotary members] only remember one thing from my visit, I hope it’s that they understand that the members of the Davie Fire Rescue Department care about our community and that we are here to ensure the safety of our residents,” declared Montopoli.
The Davie Fire-Rescue Department is a full-service professional organization committed to reducing and mitigating the risks to life and property in the Town of Davie.
