Susan Starkey has over 28 years of successful experience as public servant, community volunteer activist, and advocate for education, environment and the good government. She has also had many years of work experience in the public and private sectors. She was born in Wiesbaden, Germany to a US Military family and has lived in Florida since 1955. She and her four children haved resided in Davie since 1990. All children attended Davie Schools.

Major accomplishments include:
- Lowered millage rate (tax) for the past 3 years
- Acted to weed out financial abuses, Initiated and completed financial audit
- Recovered more than 98% of the fraud associated with a former employee and approved NEW financial safeguards,
- Davie currently has an A plus “Fitch” rating
- Initiated Davie's “Child Safety Act” to protect children from sexual predators.
- Improved Fire and Police safety by adding personnel, equipment and capital projects.
- Successfully passed a voter approved 16.5 Million Dollar bond for Fire Safety
- 3 new Boys and Girls Clubs have been built in Davie
- Saved hundreds of acres from development for parks, recreation and trails.
- Successfully passed a voter approved bond issue for 25 Million for open space
- Voted for Meaningful Redevelopment in the Downtown and University -Regional Activit
- Center and the East 441 Corrido
- Passed a Rural Lifestyle Initiative, and ordinances to preserve our rural and open space
- Improved our parks and recreation program. Preserved hundreds of acres for wetlands
- trails and open space.
- Initiated a smoking ban within parks and playgrounds.
- Supported programs for On-line access to government and “Davie Community Channel”
- Initiated a Green Market at many community events.
