District 2
Councilmember
Michael Crowley—District 2

MikeCrowley07.jpgMichael Crowley has been a Davie resident for 25 years and was appointed to the Town Council in April 2003. On March 9th, 2004, Councilmember Crowley was elected by District Two citizens of Davie to serve a term of three years. He has worked for the Central Broward Water Control District for the past 18 years, and today is District Manager with an extensive background in environmental water resources and storm water management.

Before joining the Town Council, Mr. Crowley served as Chairman of the Davie Water & Environmental Board and also served on the Davie Site Plan Committee. He was appointed to the Broward County Water Advisory Board in 2006 and belongs to the Board of Directors for Broward League of Cities. He is a member of the Davie/Cooper City Chamber of Commerce, Interlocal Drainage & Water Control Study, Broward County Surface Water Coordination Committee, Sierra Club, and National Audubon Society. He sits on the Board of Trustees of Davie School Foundation, the nonprofit group charged with preservation of Old Davie School.

Councilmember Crowley supports growth via annexation, but is active in ensuring that Davie preserves land for the enjoyment of future generations. Public safety is of paramount importance to him. This is reflected in his support of roadway improvements and traffic calming devices, police, and fire efforts within the community, as well as his work to assist residents with issues related to flooding during hurricanes and storm events.

While he has focused much of his attention on growth and public safety in Davie, one of this councilmember’s most personal concerns is water: protecting it as an essential source of sustenance and being prepared in order to avoid the devastation it can cause to a community. He is committed to ensuring that our water resources are maintained and utilized to serve the people and to preserve the environment.

Councilmember Crowley also supports children’s issues. He believes that the Town should provide children with opportunities to grow and to develop through structured recreation programs that encourage team building skills and the chance to play outdoors.

Mike Crowley is married to Heather and has one daughter, Katie, who is attending Broward Community College.  The Crowley’s welcomed twin boys, Cody and Trevor, on November 30, 2007.
